Our new home
It was early dawn, the sun was halfway over the horizon. I was awake, bur Gabriel was still asleep. I walked up to the cliff, and sat on a rock, wondering where we should be heading off next. To my utter surprise, I saw a small town in the distance. I could not express my joy, we finally made it. A new home, where Gabriel and I can find true freedom, and live our lives happily. I woke Gabriel up and showed him the beautiful town that laid below the hill. Strangely, I found a sled lying near me. I seemed to have good luck, and also recall the memory of me going down the hill full of snow with a sled. I put Gabriel in front of the sled and hopped on it, then we were racing down the hill, feeling the breeze. I can never forget that wonderful time. Now, we are living happily in a place, where life is worth living.

The escape
I was right! This community is full of lies. I have decided to leave this place, which is why i stayed with my master , the giver for the night. We had our evening meal, then stayed up all night, discussing how I should leave this community. I was feeling a bit frightened, but i wasn't going to regret my choice. Finally, we came up with a plan: Before leaving, the giver would transfer memories of courage and strength to me. It would help me find a place, somewhere we knew existed. Then, I would leave at midnight. I would hide my bicycle and clothes in the bushes near the riverbank. I would leave a note to my parents, informing them that i was out on a early morning bike ride. They would wait, with mounting anger, then would be forced to go to the ceremony, which is in december. The giver would call a vehicle, where I would hide in the storage area, with food supply for at least two weeks. Then, there will be chaos and confusion in the ceremony because people will find out I am not present. The giver would return and tell everyone that I am gone. So, they will chant their prayer of loss. It sounded like a pretty good plan. Well, December came, and I put my plan into action. But this time, I bought Gabriel with me. My father released his twin, and Gabriel was about to be released, so I bought him along too. I used my father's bike, because it had a child's seat at the back. The only thing i forgot to do is to receive the memories of courage and strength from the giver, so that means it will be a long trip. It has been a few weeks since we were traveling, and we were running short on food. I had no energy left, from riding my bike. A hill came up ahead, and I couldn't get up, so we rested. I found some berries, so me and Gabriel shared them. Even Gabriel got weaker. I was shocked, because i never knew that we came this far, and now our path to a newer home was trailing off. It was getting late and dark, so we rested for the day

The stirrings
Sometimes, i get these strange feelings when i dream, or i see this female, Fiona. To get rid of these feelings, i take these pills everyday. I've even seen my parents taking these pills every morning. It is really strange, because for some reason our community wants us to get rid of the feelings we get. All my friends take them, but they aren't concerned about why they take them or anything. Seriously, i have been doing my training lately, and i don't trust anyone, except my master. Everyone is telling me lies, about their jobs, the pills, everything. They don't have true feelings for anybody. They are just doing these things for themselves

The ceremony of twelve
I cannot believe it. I was finally turning twelve, but the ceremony had a little twist in it. You see, the ceremony of twelve is when your transition to adulthood begins. It certainly is a delightful event, where they call your name and you have to walk up to stage and receive a bade and a floder with instructions in it. The audience will applaud for you. When you get this job, you have to train for it until you become old and stay in the House of Old. I was really excited, but for some odd reason they did not call my name! Thoughts were racing around my mind. " Was I not qualified? Is my work insufficient? I began to feel realy frightened and dizzy. I got up from my seat and started looking for my parents. Then the Head-of-Council made an announcement after everyone got thier turn. She said that this year, I was going to get a special job. Then she called me up on stage and told me that I was going to be the new Receiver. I had no idea what kind of job it was, and i was happy and surprised at the same time. She gave me the badge and a folder with instructions. She told me that the training will be painful, and I must do my job well. Everyone applauded for me, but I still wasn't satisfied for some reason. My parents were happy for me, and they knew that i would do a good job at it.
